In partnership with
Community Association Management (CAM)
Looking for a new opportunity? Employment of community association managers is
projected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through the
year 2010. If you want to be involved in the management or operations of a
community association for fee, the
Georgia Real Estate Commission
requires you to either have a real estate license or a Community Association
Management (CAM) license.
The CAM course, with the school exam, is approved as a
25-hour Post-license course and approved for 24 hours of
continuing education credit without the exam. Course content is excellent
information for anyone, especially community association volunteers, working
for their neighborhood association. You will learn:
- Extensive review of licensing requirements;
- Overview of principles of agency & brokerage;
- Detailed analysis of maintenance, budgeting, & rule enforcement;
- Comprehensive examination of accounting principles & application to
community associations;
- Explanations of trust accounting requirements; and
- Review of fair housing laws, telecommunications laws, federal income tax laws,
the GA Condominium Act, & the GA Property Owners’ Association Act.
Tuition
The CAM course tuition is $290 and includes instruction,
textbook and final exam.
Class Schedule
All CAM classes meet on weekdays from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
All classes are held at: Sandy Springs Campus - 5784 Lake Forrest Dr.
Each course consists of 4 days of instruction with a fifth date for the final exam.

The Instructors
The Georgia Institute of Real Estate has been providing
outstanding industry education longer than any real estate
school in Georgia. The CAM Instructors are Floyd Dickens, Julie
Howard, George Nowack, and Lisa Fuerst, attorneys with the real estate litigation firm of
Weissman,
Nowack, Curry & Wilco, P.C., in Atlanta. They specialize in
representing community associations and have written numerous
articles and books on community association, real estate
brokerage, and agency issues.

CAM Requirements
To be eligible for a Community Association Management license in
the State of Georgia, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be a resident of the State of Georgia, unless seeking a nonresident license;
- Be a high school graduate or holder of a certification of equivalency;
- Complete a 25-hour Community Association Management course at an approved school;
- Pass a state CAM examination; and
- Obtain a criminal history report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
